Getting a beautiful smile in the Big Easy is simpler than ever with Invisalign, a cutting-edge treatment that helps patients of all ages achieve better oral health and aesthetics. Our team at Murphy Orthodontics offers Invisalign for kids in New Orleans & Metairie, LA. We are passionate about setting the newest generation of patients up for a lifetime of success through amazing corrective treatments such as Invisalign. Kids often have a higher rate of success in Invisalign than any other age group because their mouths are still forming, and our treatment can significantly impact the way their teeth and jaws develop. Our skilled team is here to guide you through every step of the Invisalign process as we prioritize your childâs comfort and well-being in our treatment plan.
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a newer corrective treatment that is quickly gaining popularity among patients of all ages. This treatment consists of a series of clear aligners that are slightly adjusted over time to gradually shift your childâs teeth into place for the perfect smile. We use a digital imaging system to create aligners that fit snugly over your childâs teeth for a more tailored treatment experience. Invisalign has proven to be just as effective as braces in fixing many orthodontic issues such as crooked teeth, bite misalignment, gaps in the teeth, and overcrowding.
How Is Invisalign for Kids Different From Invisalign for Adults?
Our team is skilled at crafting treatment plans built to evolve as your childâs mouth develops. We use Invisalign First, a series of clear aligners that focuses on influencing and correcting the growth of young jaws, arches, and teeth. Weâll make adjustments to the clear aligners based on the childâs growth rate throughout their time in Invisalign so they can experience a fully tailored and efficient treatment process.
If you are concerned your child will take their aligners out too often, we want to assure you that most of our younger patients adapt to their appliance quicker than adults. Children are more likely to leave their aligners in until theyâre directed to remove them.
As an added protection, Invisalign First has a compliance indicator located near the back of the aligners. This indicator involves a small symbol that fades spending on how much your child wears their aligners. If the symbol is still visible after a couple of weeks, youâll know they need to keep their aligners in for longer each day.

What Are the Benefits of Invisalign for Children?
Invisalign is one of the most flexible treatments that give patients the results they want with the freedom they deserve. We understand that some patients want to improve the look and health of their smiles, but they donât like the aesthetics of traditional metal braces. With our virtually invisible clear aligners, patients can enjoy the look of their natural smile while working toward a beautiful smile that will benefit them for years.
Invisalign is not only virtually invisible but also engineered for ultimate patient comfort. We use a thermoplastic material called SmartTrack that has been specially designed so your child can achieve a healthier smile without even realizing theyâre wearing their appliance. This high comfort level also encourages children to keep their appliances in so their time in Invisalign can be as efficient as possible.
One of the features of Invisalign treatment that our younger patients enjoy most is eating all of their favorite treats throughout treatment. Unlike with braces, there is no fear of chewy, sticky, or hard foods pulling at wires and brackets and prolonging treatment. Instead, your child can easily remove their appliance and eat as much popcorn and hard candy as you allow!
One of the biggest benefits of Invisalign for children and parents alike is that aligners can be easily removed for brushing and flossing. We understand that it can be difficult for children to properly brush their teeth even without corrective treatment, and thatâs why Invisalign may be perfect for your little one as they work to clean away food debris and harmful bacteria. They must keep their teeth clean during treatment so no tooth decay can keep them from achieving a happier and healthier smile.
How Should My Child Care for Their Invisalign Aligners?
Itâs crucial your child keeps their appliance clean so they donât have harmful bacteria and food debris sitting on top of their teeth. Luckily, keeping Invisalign clean is simple, and patients only have to add one more step to their daily hygiene routine. After they brush and floss as they usually would, children should use a toothbrush and warm water to scrub both sides of their aligners. This will keep them from putting unclean Invisalign back on freshly brushed teeth.
Can My Child Still Participate in Sports?
Of course! We want our patients to continue to do the things they love while in treatment. Invisalign can even act as a mouth guard to protect their teeth as they run for a touchdown or kick a soccer ball past a goalie.
