What Is Invisalign® in Metairie, LA

Braces are not the only option for crooked teeth, gaps, overcrowding and other challenges. Invisalign is a different treatment and one that comes with the benefit of being almost invisible.

If you’re curious about Invisalign in Metairie and surrounding areas, Murphy Orthodontics is an experienced, qualified provider of this treatment option.

Invisalign is a treatment option using clear aligners that have been customized to your teeth. This treatment is similar to braces, in that Invisalign for NOLA patients can help treat many of the same conditions as braces — including crooked teeth, bite misalignment, gaps in the teeth and overcrowding.

Invisalign is different than traditional braces. Unlike braces, you do not have to wear your aligner all the time. The aligner also molds to fit your teeth, which means that it’s often not visible at all.

Another big difference has to do with your diet. When you choose traditional braces, you need to avoid a variety of foods, including anything crunchy or sticky that can damage your braces or get stuck in them. Foods such as popcorn, nuts, hard taco shells, sticky candy and raw vegetables are typically off-limits. With Invisalign, you can continue to eat your favorite foods with no restrictions, since you remove your aligner to eat.

Love them! Quick, easy, and affordable! Staff is very welcoming and nice! I chose them for my Invisalign treatments and I wouldn’t go with anybody else!

I really was apprehensive about getting braces after having worn them in my teens, and now having a serious cross bite. Dr. Murphy put me at ease explaining in detail how the process of invisalign would work . I am very happy with my progress . He has a great staff everyone is friendly, personable, helpful and make you feel at ease. I recommend Dr. Murphy to anyone who is considering braces.

A few months ago, I initially went for a consult for my daughter who is 10. She is at the in-between age of losing teeth faster than her mouth is growing. Because of this she will develop crowding. Unfortunately, we have to wait and Dr. Murphy will follow her closely and determine if she can start in 6 months or 12 months. In the meantime, I needed to focus on myself. I am a teeth person. I am obsessed with teeth. This is the first thing I notice when meeting people. We get cleanings every 6 months and are very into our teeth. We take care of our teeth! My two sons had braces at the same time, so it was not affordable for me to get braces to fix some minor imperfections. I had braces as a child and unfortunately did not wear my retainer because I left it while evacuating during Hurricane Katrina. My smile is beautiful and I get complimented on my teeth all the time. But some of my teeth have shifted and my gaps are opening up. I found this to be the perfect time to focus on myself, while waiting for nature to take course with my daughter. Murphy Orthodontics is amazing! From the central location on Vets., to the office aesthetics.....the feel is chill and calm, and the staff was amazing. Following them online, you can clearly see that this is more of a family than a business. They celebrate birthdays, host holiday parties, staff anniversaries, and have even held baby showers for a few staff members. This looks like a wonderful place to work and it seems as if everyone really enjoys their job, this is key for the success of a business and happiness of people. This was my 2nd consult in 3 months, so I have a base line to review my thoughts. I am very observant and you can tell that everything was carefully thought out. I was really pleased with everyone's ability to make me feel welcomed and ok with everything. Communication was wonderful from the time we walked in to the time we left. The financial coordinator really worked with me to make sure that it was affordable for me and I was OK with everything. I really appreciated this because my daughter and I will be in braces at the same time. Being a self paying patient really was a challenge and I learned this a few years back when my sons were in treatment together. They do not offer specials often, but they were running a special for the end of May, where you had to get braces as a same-day start. I started and everything was explained to me. The top braces were put on and I have to return in eight weeks to have the lower ones put on. I love that I was able to bring my daughter to wait with me and she was able to come with me wherever I needed to in the office. This is super important because I'm a single mom. I'm so happy to have found Murphy Orthodontics and I see why the practice is thriving. I chose the original metal brackets. Initially, I was gonna go with Invisalign, but I'm always very worried about the results. Knowing that I've had braces before, I was not sold on doing something that I was not sure about. I chose the original brackets and am pleased with it. Their motto is… people first, teeth second. Thank you, Murphy Orthodontics for helping to make my smile more beautiful! I usually take pictures of everything, but unfortunately, I did not. I will update my review to add pictures after my next appointment.

Invisalign is a popular choice for many patients because it offers a wide range of benefits:

It is a virtually invisible treatment option. Invisalign aligners are clear, and they’re molded to fit your teeth. Unlike braces, they cannot be seen in photos and may not even be visible to people you talk to. If you are self-conscious about the idea of braces or if you are in a public-facing job where you don’t want to wear them, Invisalign can be an option for you.

This treatment option is customizable. Invisalign aligners are based on an accurate model of your mouth, so your aligners are made for you and the unique needs of your teeth.

This treatment is comfortable. There are no wires, metal brackets or elastics to move around your mouth or scrape against your tongue or lips. Invisalign aligners are made from a rounded, smooth plastic.

You can see your progress. Since Invisalign aligners are clear and removable, you can start to see progress quickly. Many patients start to see changes in their smile within a few weeks, before treatment is even complete.

There is no need to change your lifestyle. You can remove Invisalign aligners to brush your teeth, floss, drink and eat, so you don’t have to adapt your daily routine to your orthodontic treatment. You can even remove them for special occasions — so you can smile brightly for all the big moments of your life.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a corrective treatment that delivers the same great results as braces with a much more discreet profile. This treatment consists of a series of clear aligners crafted to fit snugly over your teeth and provide consistent pressure to move your teeth into the desired position. During this process, you will receive a new set of aligners every week that has been slightly adjusted to move your teeth closer to the desired result. Patients love the high level of comfort they experience and appreciate the freedom they have during treatment because they can easily remove the appliance to eat, drink, and more.

How Do I Care for My Invisalign Aligners?

It’s essential to keep your aligners clean, so you can maintain your great oral health while in treatment. Luckily, keeping your aligners clean is simple, and you only need to add one extra step to your daily routine. You should continue to brush your teeth twice a day and floss often, and once you are done brushing your teeth, you should clean your aligners. To properly clean your appliance, run your toothbrush and warm water and scrub the fronts and backs of your Invisalign. This will help rid your appliance of harmful bacteria, so you don’t put dirty aligners back on your freshly cleaned teeth.

What Is the Treatment Process?

At Murphy Orthodontics, we take the time to get to know our patients and understand their orthodontic needs and goals. During your complimentary consultation, we will take pictures and X-rays of your mouth and jaw so Dr. Murphy can identify the areas that need attention through treatment. Once you decide you want to move forward with Invisalign, we will use a digital scanner called iTero to scan your teeth and create a 3D digital model of your smile.

We use this digital model in several ways. To begin, our doctor will alter the 3D image to show you a projection of what your smile will look like after treatment. At this point, we will welcome your feedback to make sure your smile looks exactly the way you imagine. Once you and Dr. Murphy decide on the desired result, the doctor will plan out each of your aligner sets to make sure your teeth shift in the correct way to achieve your dream smile.

After Dr. Murphy plans your treatment, your first set of Invisalign will be created using a 3D printer. Invisalign sets are made using a cutting-edge thermoplastic that was engineered for ultimate patient comfort. You will receive a new set of aligners every week until you complete treatment and have the smile you’ve always wanted.

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?

When you get Invisalign, you are investing in a higher quality of life. You will benefit from improved aesthetics and experience better oral and overall health. We want all of our patients to have access to this life-changing treatment so they can look in the mirror and see a smile they’re proud to wear. This is why our practice has created several flexible financing plans, so our patients can budget for this treatment more easily. Additionally, we will work with most insurance providers to help you get out-of-pocket costs covered. Getting the smile you deserve shouldn’t be stressful, and our knowledgeable team members are ready to answer any questions you may have about treatment costs.

How Will Invisalign Affect My Life?

Invisalign will have a long-lasting positive impact on your life as it helps you achieve a healthier smile that inspires confidence. While you’re in treatment, however, your daily life will barely be impacted at all. Patients love the flexibility they have to remove their aligners whenever they need to eat, drink, take pictures, and more. Additionally, Invisalign is virtually invisible, so others won’t even be able to notice your aligners unless you tell them. This revolutionary treatment has gained popularity in recent years because of how easily it fits into any patient’s lifestyle.

How Long Do I Have to Wear My Aligners for Each Day?

To achieve your desired results as quickly as possible, it’s essential you wear your aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours a day. When you keep your Invisalign in for a majority of the day, your teeth benefit from consistent pressure that gradually moves them into the perfect position for your dream smile. If you leave your aligners out for too long, your teeth may begin to shift back to their original place, and you could reverse your progress. Even with this requirement, you still have several hours to work with, so you can take them out whenever it’s convenient.

Are There Any Food Restrictions with Invisalign?

Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign has no dietary restrictions. No matter what you eat, you should take your aligners out before you start. This means that there is no possibility of hard, sticky, or chewy foods being able to damage your appliance. However, you must remember to put your aligners back in place once you’re done.

Invisalign may be a good choice for patients who need some orthodontic treatment but who don’t want the appearance of braces. Whether you are an adult or a kid Invisalign could be an option. The best candidates are those who can commit to sticking to the treatment regimen at home. Since you must wear the aligners for a prescribed period of time per day, you must be sure to care for your aligners and stick to your schedule.
